FAQs About Me
This page will be
updated as new questions are posed.

"If I worried about everything other people thought and said, I wouldn't
get a damned thing done". --Sheri
-When did you start writing?
I wrote (in pencil) my first novel in
the third grade, sent it to a publisher in New York and of course it was
rejected, but they were nice enough to tell me to “Keep trying.” I
started writing professionally in 2001 with my manuscript, Let’s Make
a Deal, which was rejected by Harlequin Blaze, but earned me PRO
status with RWA.
-What does your office look like?
Well, it don't look like this anymore,
folks! :( Due to Katrina - I have to remodel my entire house. I'll
post the new office whenever it gets completed. I did manage to save my
reference books, so my library won't be completely bare.
I'm posting this because three different people asked me this.
I'm not sure why that would be interesting, but I'll answer: I
converted my living room into my office. It's big and airy and I
can put built in bookshelves and cabinets later on. Here's a
picture so you can better see where I work. I do have more stacks
of books than this now, since I am a book-aholic. As with the rest of my
house and life, my taste is eclectic - I use what catches my eye and what
'feels' like me.

-What’s your favorite color?
I have three that I like equally: red,
purple, and green (as long as they're a really deep, dark tone)
-Who is your favorite actor? Why?
Christopher Walken, because he can
scare the hell out of you and make you want to have sex with him at the
same time. I love that. I think he was great in the music
video he did for 'Fat Boy Slim' to the song, Weapon of Choice.
-What are some of your favorite movies?
Prophecy I, II, and III with
Christopher Walken.
The Matrix with Keanu Reeves (that's a good-looking man!)
Working Girl with Melanie Griffith and Harrison Ford
Dusk til Dawn with George Clooney
City of Angels with Meg Ryan and Nicholas Cage
Moonstruck with Cher and Nicholas Cage
Serendipity with Kate Beckensale and John Cusack
-What is your most favorite book of all time? Why?
Frederick, by Leo Lionni,
because it tells of a dreamer, who, when his friends have met with their
greatest despair and given up on everything, gives them hope with his
storytelling and imagination. I would like my work to have that effect
on people.
-Who are your favorite
authors?
Robin Schone, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Laurel Hamilton and anyone who
can tell a good story with lots of action, violence, and sex!
-What are my favorite genres?
Erotica and erotic romance, horror (kinda goes hand in hand with
romance, I think) ;), Sci-Fi, Paranormal, Occult, anything 'dark
and dangerous'.
-How tall are you?
I'm short, just barely over 5 feet, but that's okay.
'Dynamite comes in small packages!'
-What is your zodiac sign?
Taurus. I’m a little stubborn (my
husband is snorting), but I always like the people around me to be happy and
have a good time. I like low conflict situations, but can get
aggressive if needs be. Taureans are earthy, sensual people, and I think that
is reflected in my work. I like simple things, but things of beauty,
like nature.
-What is your favorite food?
Dessert?
Anything that doesn’t eat me first,
except liver. I won’t eat that.
Favorite dessert is chocolate, but I like cheesecake, too.
-What is ‘the most perfect day’ to you?
Coming home to peace and quiet long
enough to cuddle up with a good book, good music, and a cup of coffee. Then, listen to my family
scream and holler and do all those things that families do. I like it
when all my children are at home, driving me crazy.
-What is something your fans wouldn’t know about
you unless you told them?
Believe it, or not, I'm really a shy, introverted person. It's
taken me a lot of years to come out of my shell. I do well in
small crowds, on the Internet (you can't see me), or one on one.
Large crowds make me antsy - that's why I like to shop on-line for most
of my 'stuff'.
I have a degree in nursing. I’m a RN
at a local hospital where I work on an orthopedic floor two nights a
week. I also have an Associates Degree in Business, emphasis in
Computers.
If you are ever around me and do any of these things, you'd know real quick not to do so
again. I get a little 'violent':
DON'T wake me up if it isn't time for me to get up!
I don't sleep much, so what I do get, I like to enjoy for as long as
possible.
DON'T talk to me if I've just awakened, especially
if it's early a.m. I like it dark and quiet until I've had at
least two cups of coffee, then I'll speak first. I'm more of a
night person, coming awake around 3p.m.
If it looks like I'm 'zoned' out with a book, or
'just sitting' in the dark with the stereo playing - DON'T bother me -
I've gone to 'another place' in my mind; I'm relaxing. This is when I
get a lot of my ideas for my books.
Other than that - I'm a very nice person! :)
-What’s your favorite music?
I like
ALL kinds of music, but at
present I tend to listen to Alternative Rock, like "Chevelle", “Breaking Benjamin”,
“Godsmack”, “AudioSlave”, "Shine Down", "System of a
Down", "Tool", "Alice in Chains", and "Wolf Mother".
I have found that THE band to listen to when
writing a hot, hard sex scene is "Nine Inch Nails",
especially their song,
Closer. Wow! They have a new album out, With Teeth,
which isn't bad. Neither is Trent Reznor. ;)
Great pic on the cover of Revolver Magazine!!
-What are your hobbies?
Remodeling my house (ongoing project),
cooking (when I have time), reading (ALWAYS!), and photography. I walk, too,
but that's more for physical health, than actual hobby.
-What are your interests?
I study a lot of archaeology,
anthropology, sociology, mythology, and theology for my writing. I
love researching stuff for my books. If I
ever go back to college, I’d like to get a degree in theology.
Cultures, people,
and religions fascinate me.
-What did you want to be when you were younger?
An archaeologist and a writer.
-What is some advice you would give girls and women
today?
Well, if you're under 18 you
shouldn’t be
on this website, but if you are on here, stay in school, study hard,
read a lot, especially romances (I started reading them when I was 13),
and don’t ever let anyone tell you, “You can’t do that, because you’re a
girl.”
If you’re over 18, same advice, get an
education, even if you’re forty. Don’t be dependant on anyone. Learn
how to take care of yourself, but always be looking for your soul-mate.
Life’s a whole lot nicer when you have the right person to share it
with.
-Who were the people who influenced
you the most, growing up? Why?
My dad - he taught me to be independent and told me:
-you'll never know you can do something unless you try
-if you're going to do something, don't do it 'half-ass'
-don't let any man take advantage of you
-learn how to live within your means
-have car and health insurance
My uncle - he told me don't ever be too comfortable at where
you are in your life; you always need to learn and grow
-What are your religious beliefs?
I guess I get this one due to the subject matter of my stories. But to
answer the question, due to my interest in other cultures/religions, I
'believe' in a lot of things. I'm definitely more 'spiritual' than
'religious'.
I think God reaches people in whatever 'way' He/She has
to. Religion is a personal choice. My beliefs shouldn't be
forced on anyone else, or vice versa. I'll discuss religion with
you ALL day/night, but I won't argue with you.
